A firm of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers and Registered Auditors knew they could count on Samarind to help them keep ahead of the game with their IT system.

Hawley and Company is a successful Llandudno accountancy practice, providing a comprehensive range of services in all areas of accounting, auditing, taxation and general business advice. Mel Graham, Practice Manager, explained: "We recognised the need for a system that is up to date and would grow with our business, while helping us to move forward in this increasingly technological world.

"We needed to upgrade our server in order to cater for our updated accounting and taxation software, as the underlying database management system was being updated from Pervasive Btrieve to Microsoft SQL. Our software provider had announced they were shortly to cease supporting Pervasive, so time was of the essence.

"Samarind suggested we have a Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 and all related paraphernalia."

"Upgrading Hawley and Company's network server to Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 was definitely the best solution," confirmed Carly McKay, Samarind's Network Systems Sales Executive.  "As well as allowing them to use the accounting package they needed, the firm saw the advantages of the additional security and reliability that Small Business Server 2008 offers, especially the secure remote working facility.

"Upgrading to Exchange 2007 will also give them additional email search features, larger mail storage capacity and better remote email facility. Overall, Hawley and Company now have the assurance that they are using the latest technology platform, which will support them as they grow."

"We are delighted with the work carried out by Samarind in a tight turnaround time," said Mel. "Some of our workstations have been here since we started in 2003, so it took several days on site to upgrade the server and transfer all the data. However, we were always kept in the loop and we were able to work around it. We have always found Samarind staff punctual, friendly and helpful.

"Since our previous server was about to expire, we are very satisfied that this major hurdle has now been overcome - that is, until our software provider changes the rules again!"
