Disaster Recovery

Samarind has been providing backup and disaster recovery solutions for over 10 years. We have extensive experience in this area and have helped many small and medium sized businesses plan for - and recover from - disasters causing major computer system problems.

A disaster recovery plan is about more than just doing regular backups. It's an essential part of business planning and many investors and insurance companies will require you to have one as part of the due diligence process. As a business owner or key stakeholder you need to consider what your business' critical processes are and how they will continue to operate in the event of a disaster.

More than just IT

As IT systems are key to most businesses, disaster recovery planning often revolves around the IT systems, and other aspects are often neglected. As well as setting out how to recover from a server or IT infrastructure failure your disaster recovery plan should consider (for example) what will happen if your site has no power or if a severe fire means that you will not be allowed back on site for days. Do you have procedures in place that will allow your staff to work from home? Can you arrange for temporary office space somewhere? Can you minimise disruption by having multiple sites or an arrangement with another company to share their resources? Catering for all these aspects is the key to a true 'business continuity' plan.
