Samarind is celebrating twenty years of success in the IT business by winning a number of prestigious new contracts.
The company was started by Sadik and Miranda Pothiawala in 1987, initially trading from their home office in Little Sutton, South Wirral. Over the twenty years since then, Samarind has gone from strength to strength with Sadik, Miranda and fellow Director, Richard Whittaker, now employing eighteen full time staff at their handsome offices in Deeside Industrial Park, with plans to double the size of the company over the next three years.
Samarind started with two main streams of business; Sadik designing data networks and Miranda developing bespoke software. These two areas of business formed the basis of the company and they continue to thrive today. Renowned as a forward thinking company, Samarind has extended its service offering in recent years to include web based solutions, which has given the company a competitive edge within the IT sector.
Samarind has recently won several prestigious contracts including the development of a set of bespoke systems for The Association of Plumbers and Heating Contractors (APHC) who run an essential element of the Competent Persons Scheme on behalf of the Her Majesty’s Government. From June 1 2006, anyone selling a house in the UK will have to provide prospective buyers with a Home Information Pack (HIP). The HIP will include proof that any essential work on the property has been carried out by a professional contractor, accredited under the Competent Persons Scheme.
Sadik Pothiawala, Managing Director comments. Samarind has also made a significant impact in the pharmaceutical industry, by winning a contract to supply a multi-national pharmaceutical manufacturer with a regulatory management system. Samarind’s RMS is a fit-for-purpose software application that will manage the acquisition and maintenance of the pharmaceutical manufacturer's UK portfolio of generic drug licenses. Samarind’s Director of software Miranda Pothiawala comments, ‘Naturally we’re delighted Samarind were chosen to supply a major pharmaceutical company with our own regulatory management system. The fact that this ties in with Samarind’s twentieth anniversary, makes it all the more special. We’re very proud of what we have accomplished.’
